A group of Caymanian investors have come together to create the first 100% locally-owned high-speed internet, TV and phone service provider, called c3. The first truly Cayman telecommunications company to offer such services will be going head-to-head with LIME, Logic and WestStar with the provision of Internet, online TV and digital phone and the owners said their service has been designed to meet the specific needs of Cayman. Construction crews have taken to the road to begin installing the state-of-the-art network, which will be operating aerially on poles rather than the traditional method of trenching.
“This company was created by Caymanians to better serve the people of the Cayman Islands,” said Randy Merren, one of the company’s creators. “We are committed to improving the level of internet, digital TV, and phone service on the island by installing our own brand new, fibre-optic cables and a state-of-the-art data centre with satellite earth station antennas right here on Grand Cayman.”
Merren told CNS Business that the firm was confident that despite the developing competitive environment for a limited pool of customers, the firm was confident of success. As an all local firm they have tailored the service to meet the local demand and feel they will compete effectively with other service providers.
The company is being developed and backed by local investors Kris Bergstrom and Marcus Cumber, along with two other Caymanian investors who, Merren said, saw the need to provide the people of the Cayman Islands with a new level of service.
