An Airbus A380, capable of carrying 525 passengers, touched down at Glasgow Airport at 12.35pm on Thursday.

Even though Emirates Airlines has carried more than 2.3 million passengers from Glasgow to Dubai since 2004, it is the first time an A380 has landed in Scotland.

A one-off flight will travel to the Middle East at 3.30pm on Thursday.

Hundreds of spectators visited Glasgow Airport to watch the historic flight touch down.

Earlier, visitors were warned earlier that waiting or parking on perimeter roads including Barnsford Road, Abbotsinch Road and Walkinshaw Road would not be permitted.

The Airbus A380 is 24 metres high and 73 metres long, with a wingspan of 80 metres and a top speed of around 633mph.

Emirates operates the most A380s across the world with 44 and has almost 100 more on order.
